DDA-Funded Scientist Award 2019

DDA calls for nominations for the DDA-Funded Scientist Award 2019 to recognize, excellence, innovation, passion and commitment in Danish diabetes research.
The DDA-Funded Scientist award is presented to a junior DDA-funded researcher who has shown great potential to be a world‐class researcher within his/her field of expertise.
Requirements for nomination:
- The candidate must be nominated by a member of the DDA (members of the DDA can only nominate one person each and members of the award committee cannot nominate a candidate)
- The candidate must be a member of the DDA (members of the award committee cannot be nominated)
- The candidate must be currently funded by the DDA (or a previously DDA-funded researcher) (currently or previously DDA-funded visiting professor cannot be nominated)
- The candidate cannot also be nominated for the DDA Young Investigator Award 2019
Please note: The winner must be able to attend the award ceremony on the DDA Annual Day (12 November 2019).
Nomination
Nomination deadline is 1 October 2019.
Nominations must be written in English and submitted via our online application form, which is situated on this page. Please note that you must be logged into the DDA website in order to submit a nomination.
The nomination should include the following documents:
1. Letter of nomination from the nominator (max. 500 words) including description of:
- The originality of the candidate’s research
- Quality and innovation of the candidate’s research
- Publications of the candidate
- Invited oral presentations at international conferences of the candidate
- The candidate’s engagement in public dissemination of his/her research and results thereof
- The candidate’s external funding record
- The commitment and passion of the candidate
- The candidate’s engagement in the three major strategic areas of the DDA: 1) international collaboration/stays abroad; 2) interdisciplinary translational research; 3) collaboration across sectors
2. CV of the candidate (max. 2 pages) and publication list of the candidate (in one single PDF file only)
Evaluation and nomination
The applications will be assessed by an award committee consisting of two members of the DDA Committee for Talent Development and four members of the DDA Committee for Education (all appointed by the DDA Board of Directors). The award committee will forward the recommendations to the DDA Board of Directors, which will make the final decision. See evaluation criteria.
Please note that the DDA-Funded Scientist Award will only be given out if the DDA award committee is able to recommend at least three candidates (meeting the requirements of the call for nominations) in order to ensure diversity of research area, gender and geography.
The awardee for the DDA-Funded Scientist Award 2019 will be notified of the decision by 4 November 2019 and will be invited to take part in the award ceremony on 12 November 2019.
The winner will be awarded DKK 25,000.
